Royal Bentley
As an approved supplier to Bentley Motors, Universal Fibre Optics were invited to provide a fibre optic lighting solution to illuminate the interior of the new Bentley limousine commissioned by Her Majesty the Queen.
The lighting illuminates the Queen and occupants in a subtle and appealing manner without causing Her Majesty discomfort from harsh, glaring light and heat generated by conventional lighting.
The initial design stage involved constructing a clay full scale model of the vehicle. UFO answered the design brief by feeding fibre optic cables along the pillars of the car into acrylic rods, casting a consistent light onto Her Majesty. A 12v lightsource fitted with a 12v fan to cool the lamp was housed in the back of the car.
All suppliers involved in the design and construction of the vehicle were invited to Windsor Castle in June 2002 to meet the Queen and to hand over the Bentley.
Equipment used:
Light sources: 100w Tungsten Halogen for 12V DC power.
Fibre harnesses: TBC
End fittings: Acrylic Rods
