Sheathed Polymer Fibre

Universal Fibre optics manufactures high quality multi-stranded sheathed fibre on reels. These typically consist of 0.75mm polymer fibres in multiples to create a fibre of larger active diameter.

These can be used for many lighting applications and we supply many manufacturers of fibre optic lighting with standard and custom fibre configurations.

Core Material: Polymethyl Methacrylate

Cladding Material: Fluorinated polymer

Outer Sheathing: TP519, thermoplastic low-smoke, halogen-free, flame retardent compund with low toxic fume emission

Operation Temperature Range: -55°C to +70°C in low humidity; <60°C at 95% RH (attenuation change is within 10% after 1000 hours except for that due to absorbed water). Please note that fibre can become brittle at lower temperatures.

* 100EG075 fibre is to special order and the minimum order is 100m. It requires a 1/2" ferrule and does not fit our standard Ezefix M8 and M10 ferrules.

Stranded fibre cables using 1mm and 1.5mm fibre can be made to order as can mixed diameter bundles.

We can supply blank common ends and sized ferrules for installers to cut and fit the fibre on site.

Though making harnesses on site does not produce as good or even light output as properly factory terminated harnesses, sometimes it can be necessary to terminate the fibre on site and Universal Fibre Optics can supply suitably experienced fitters with the raw materials to do this.

These fibres can also be stripped back at one end to make starry effects through ceilings.

We make sheathed single core fibre in 0.75mm, 1mm, 1.5mm and 2mm active diameters.
