The Opal Lounge, Edinburgh
The Opal Lounge features many unique fibre optic installations, in particular the stainless steel back bar shelving and the stainless steel light boxes over the bar. These installations were only made possible by working closely with the stainless steel manufacturers, Hastie & Co.
The back bar shelving features small diameter fibre optics uplighting the bottles, with fibre optic mirror fittings illuminating the fronts of the bottles. The stainless steel light box over the bar servery houses 2 rows of recessed directional and focusable fibre optic fittings, one row shining light onto the servery and the second providing functional lighting for the staff. All lightsources have optional colourchange.
The use of fibre optic lighting enables the Opal Lounge to achieve changes in mood and atmosphere throughout the day and night, from a coffee lounge to a restaurant, a bar to a club.
Booth Seating: Fibre optic 'lozenges' of various lengths, recessed into wooden panels with miniature spotlight focused on each table - both with optional colourchange.
Dancefloor: DMX controlled fibre optic downlighters over the dancefloor and on mirror balls which can be operated separately or synchronised with the music. These can also be switched to white light for seminars/functions.
VIP Lounge: Narrow beam fibre optic heads with colourchange or twinkle effect to back wall of sunken seating.
Handrail: Fibre optic heads installed in rectangular stainless steel handrail, providing illumination to the entrance steps off George Street. Also with optional colourchange.
