Information
Universal Fibre Optics can supply a variety of static filter types - colour filters, colour correction filters for white light and neutral density filters. See the information to the right for more information on each type.
All filters measure 45mm x 45mm. Depending on the lightsource model there may be room for one or more filters to be fitted - please contact us for advice.
Colour Filters
We can supply colour filters in any of the colours shown in the chart below. Clear filters are also available.
These are used in conjuction with a white light source to change the white light to a desired colour.
| Fire | Orange | Golden Amber | Apricot | Canary |
| Green | Jade | Turquoise | Italian Blue | Brilliant Blue |
| Bright Blue | Congo | Violet | Magenta | Pink |
Colour Correction Filters for White Light
Colour temperature explained:
The warmth or coldness of white light depends on its constituent wavelengths. This warmth or coldness is measured in Kelvin. The lower the Kelvin number, the warmer (yellower) the light and the higher the number the colder it is (bluer). Our lamps are typically rated at between 3000K & 8500K depending on the type.
To illustrate colour temperature a household incandescent lamp has a colour temperature of around 2800K while winter daylight at northerly latitudes has a colour temperature of around 8500K.
The actual colour temperature at the end of the fibre will be affected by the type fo fibre, the length and the number of bends in that fibre. The following colour correction filters can be fitted to our light sources in order to change the colour of the light entering the fibre. The exact light colour at the end of the fibre may be affected by the aforementioned variables.
