Information

Our standard decorative metal halide and low voltage light sources offer simple control through the options of switches or seperate feeds to contol colour wheel and dimmer wheel motors, and for a manual dimmer on the low voltage light sources.

Sometimes a greater degree of control or synchronisation between light sources may be required or it may be that there is an existing control system which it is desired to utilise.

We therefore offer two more extensive control options which utilise the AVR system and DMX protocols with 150w metal halide power.

DMX512 Control

DMX512 allows the greatest degree of freedom and control with synchronisation, instant colour change, twinkle effect and mechanical dimming all built into one light source.

A suitable DMX controller is required to utilise all the features although the light sources themselves can be set up in a 'master-slave' configuration.

UFO offer the QFX DMX light source which is fully DMX 512 compatible. The QFX user manual gives full details of cable types, wiring and terminations required to successfully set up a DMX system.

AVR Control

The AVR lighting control system allows the colour changing properties of light sources to be easily and accurately controlled.

The AVR system requires 2 additional components - a driver and a controller. By utilising these components in a lighting setup, between 1 and 16 light sources can be controlled and automatically set to output the same colour, or alternatively they can be set to scroll through all available colours.

Further light sources can be added simply by attaching an additional driver unit - 1 is required per 16 light sources.

UFO Elektra AVR Controller

The UFO Elektra AVR controller is an easy to use, easy to install controller which will give simple and full control over the colour wheel in metal halide light sources.

Using the labelled buttons on the front of the controller, the seven available colours can be easily selected, or choose to have a continuous colour scroll effect.

Using one CMD50 driver unit, the Elektra is capable of controlling between 1 and 16 light sources. Compatible UFO light sources are the 150W Compact Decorative and the 250W Ultima.

CMD50 AVR Driver

cmd50 image

The CMD50 AVR Driver accepts signals from the Elektra controller or from any industry standard DMX controller.

Light sources are connected to the front of the driver using one of the 4 available ports. The light sources themselves can the be daisychained together so that up to 4 can be connected to each driver port, giving a maximum of 16 connected light sources.

If more than 16 light sources are required, multiple CMD50 units can be connected together using the XLR connectors on the side of the unit.
