Clarkson's Jewellery
Universal Fibre Optics supplied lighting for the shop display cases at Clarkson's Jewellery in Edinburgh.
Clarkson's Jewellery is a company which makes and retails fine jewellery. With its neglible heat output, fibre optic lighting was the perfect solution to lighting the cabinets, providing a unique quality of light.
Lighting the displays of rings are 32mm diameter stainless steel light tubes with closely spaced points of light, staggered on the circumference for a wider coverage of light. These use 1.8mm diameter glass fibre.
In the larger cabinets, UFO 10D fittings in a stainless steel finish are used to spotlight the goods. As with the light tubes, UFO Aurora 100W halogen light sources are used giving a colour temperature of about 3400K (a warm tone of light). The stainless steel finish of these directional end fittings, in common with the light tubes, have an attractive enough appearance for them to form part of cabinet design while remaining discrete.
For the three diamond cases shown (the tall narrow cases), UFO 10D fittings were again used but in conjunction with 150W metal halide light sources to give a much brighter and cooler tone of light. (around 4200K). This light helps to accentuate the colour and sparkle of the diamonds.
